Pizza Paparazzi: Best place for Wooden Oven Pizza in Delhi/NCR @ Fat Lulu’s

Restaurant Review

BY: Shivangi Singha

Pizzas are no longer just an item in a long menu. They are the whole menu.
These days’ pizzas are ruling the food world and why won’t they. Pizzas are the best thing ever.
They have meat!
They have cheese!
They have basil and parsley!
Did we say cheese?
Cheeesee ❤

The pizzeria concept is doing pretty well in the city. Lots of new pizza places, each one has their own style and combination of flavors.
Fat Lulu’s had been doing the rounds as a great laid back place for a glass of wine, roasted meat and of course wooden oven pizza.
Initially Fat Lulu’s was just a delivery outlet, serving great wooden oven pizzas to the lucky residents of Gurugram (Gurgaon).
But a while back they expanded (good for us) and opened a fully fledged eatery at Cross Point mall, Gurgaon along with the other outlets in South Delhi.

THE AMBIANCE

Fat Lulu’s in cross point mall has a very laid back urban feel. With detachable doors so that one can enjoy the sun on the porch in the Delhi winters or to enjoy a glass of wine in Delhi rains.
The walls are exposed brick with rustic decor,  a small bar counter on one end and an antique multi-utility pool table at the other.
The decor is inspired by the pizzerias in Brooklyn which do not do anything too fancy and focus on the main agenda. THE FOOD.

THE FOOD

Thirst Quenchers

So we started off with a chocolate mint and a chocolate oreo shake. Both of them were splendid.
The base was majorly ice cream as it is supposed to be and had the perfect hit of mint and the crunch of the oreo complementing the richness of the chocolate.
To pair something with our meal we also ordered a glass of sangria which went perfectly with the meal that we ordered.

The Nibblers

To kick start the meal we tried their Lulu’s Caprese Chicken Salad. This had lettuce, cherry tomato, shredded chicken in a distinctive orange mimosa dressing that we personally loved.

We also tried their Kickin Chick which came hanging on a skewer. This chicken was roasted beautifully and then tossed in a tangy sauce. It was like a second Christmas in our mouth!

The Mains

For the main course we tried the Pork Ribs, Carbonara Spaghetti and a half and half pizza.
The pork ribs were well done and glazed with one of the beat dressings we have had till date. They were served with fresh veggies on the side.

Up next was the Carbonara. This was a perfect blend of minced meat, parmesan cheese and tomato blend. The blend was infused with imported herbs and seasonings which took the dish to a whole new level.

And lastly we tried the dish of the day the pizza. So we ordered a half and half
THE SOHO and THE MANHATTAN.
The soho had pepperoni, lamb and Italian sausage. It was truly a meat livers delight. Definately a must have.
The thin crust with the smokey flavour of the wooden oven and good quality cheese made the pizza exotic and gourmet in every way possible.
The Manhattan had cajun spiced chicken with sour cream and mozzarella cheese.
An incredible combination and an ideal choice if you are in the mood of something different.

SWEET NOTHINGS

By the end of the meal we were so stuffed that we could just try the Tiramisu Jar which they outsource from a bakery in Gurgaon itself,  Bombakery.
We were a little disappointed by the tiramisu as it was a tad bit sweeter than our preference
